Biometric Data Policy

Effective as of September 22, 2025.

This Biometric Data Policy describes how Elide Interfaces Inc. dba Sandbar (“Sandbar,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles biometric data, biometric information, or biometric identifiers (“Biometric Data”) that we collect through our Stream application, our other websites and applications that link to this Policy, and our devices (such as Stream Ring) (collectively, the “Services”).

Collection and use of Biometric Data. When you speak into the Stream Ring or otherwise give our Service access to your microphone, we collect and record the audio to enable our “Inner Voice” feature, which enables the Service to communicate with you using a personalized voice based on your own voice.  This data and data derived from it may constitute Biometric Data under applicable privacy laws.

In addition to enabling the Inner Voice feature, we may use your Biometric Data to otherwise enable your use of the Service; to comply with and enforce our legal obligations; to protect our rights; and to prevent, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical or illegal activity.  

Sharing of Biometric Data.  Our service providers may have access to your Biometric Data in order to help us provide the Services (including to enable the Inner Voice feature), to store the data, to maintain backup copies, and to service the systems on which such data is stored.  We may also share your Biometric Data with our service providers for the compliance and protection purposes described in our Privacy Policy. 

Retention schedule and guidelines for destruction of Biometric Data. Except as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law, we will retain your Biometric Data until the earlier of the following conditions are satisfied: 

  • The initial purpose for collecting or obtaining your Biometric Data has been satisfied; or 
  • A set amount of time following your last interaction with us.  For example, if you are an Illinois resident, we delete your Biometric Data within three years from your last interaction with us.
